For a sunny and ecological Christmas, choose, Għajnsielem on the island of Gozo this year.
4500 recycled bottles were needed to decorate this unique Christmas tree in the world. The winter sunlight of Malta (Gozo to be precise) pierces this fir tree during the day and lights it up at night offering an even more spectacular show. We congratulate the Town Hall and the inhabitants of Għajnsielem for this brilliant ecological idea that also carries a message of hope and light in the pure Christian tradition.
This Christmas tree that the artist Marcel Duchamp would have loved a lot (see his work of ready-made called » Bottle Holders ») is to be seen only in Għajnsielem.
For those who have faith - or who seek it - or simply enjoy a wild nature, a rich religious and cultural heritage or want to fill up on vitamin D in winter , Għajnsielem is definetely the place to have a great holiday in December.

There is no better place than Bavaria to celebrate Christmas. The tradition of Christmas markets was born in Germany as well as all the specific Christmas gastronomy such as mulled wine or even pretzels, sausages, blood sausages, etc. Germans love the Christmas atmosphere so much that it is possible to buy mulled wine in supermarket throughout the year.
Since 1977 the Christmas tree erected in front of the Town Hall, has been donated to the city of Munich by communities in Bavaria and the Alpine Countries. It is an exchange of good practices since in exchange donors can come and sell their local specialties at the foot of the Christmas tree, in one of the many chalets of the Munich Christmas Market. The Christmas tree is installed end of November and illuminated on the opening day of the Christmas market until January 6 (the day of the Epiphany). It has a second life since its trunk is traditionally used as a "Maypole" a large mast on which ribbons are hung and which is erected to celebrate the foliage (the return of the leaves on the trees and the sunny days.
